Peace Building and Governance
Governance Overview :
In the midst of conflict and a breakdown of services in Yemen, BFD has been focusing on Rebuilding Governance projects that support civil society and local authorities across the country to create the conditions needed for long-term reconstruction and development.
BFD strengthens the skills and abilities of targeted communities, including displaced, marginalized, and harder-to-reach groups, to jointly work towards creating peace and resilience, promoting inclusive and self-governance, gender equality, and women’s voice.
- Governance and the Rule of Law.
BFD has conducted several training workshops subjects related to Governance and the rule of law. Furthermore, BFD has been vastly contributing to strengthening the technical capacity of local authorities and many services delivery institutions within almost all of its sectorial activities as Health, Nutrition, WaSH, FSL, Shelter, Education, CCCM, and EECR to ensure the attainment of sustainable human development goals and realization of the vision of peace and welfare.
BFD is contributing to ensure concrete and an upgraded management and coordination activities in addition to establishing and activating communities, governance structures through the provision of capacity building activities, training/mentorship, and coaching the structures/committees, representatives, and members to self-governance and management principles with peaceful management of conflict and the prevention of emerging violent conflict.
3-Community and Civil Society Organizations
BFD has contributed to achieving the goals of sustainable human development by enhancing the technical and administrative capabilities of local communities in the targeted areas. Moreover, BFD through its projects has adopted several local sub-grant implementation partners for the cause of building local community and civil society organizations capacities, the thing that contributed to enhancing their programmatic system and financial management experience & confidence. Thus, strong local communities and civil society organizations had been created with full capacity to join and partner with more donors to improve essential services for humanitarian action in an inclusive range.

1-Community Strengthening and Capacity Building
Based on BFD’s principles of governance, volunteerism, and communities, human resources development, and participation, BFD has been and still focusing and advocating on establishing and activating community-based specialized committees that are effective and able to manage, provide facilities and alleviate the difficulties and obstacles facing the surrounding communities after providing them with the necessary skills that help in developing their management, self-governance and coordination capabilities in collaboration with the relevant official authorities lines.
2-Community Awareness and Advocacy
One of the most critical elements for successful Advocacy in BFD is continuing commitment and support from the staff. BFD is committed to a community-based approach that requests and allocates funds, commits sufficient staff time to work with the community, and provides coaching and supervision. BFD field offices advocate for increased resources for governance, promote staff engagement with the community, and are available to regularly participate in and monitor community interactions. BFD values the contributions of staff working closely with communities and collaborate to develop a shared approach to protection.
3-Provision of Basic Services
BFD is and has been vastly contributing to provide basic services within all of its programmatic sectors like Health, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihood, Shelter, Education, Mine Risk management, and education and protection.

BFD is contributing to ensure concrete and an upgraded management and coordination activities in addition to establishing and activating communities, governance structures through the provision of capacity building activities, training/mentorship, and coaching the structures/committees representatives and members to self-governance and management principles with peaceful management of conflict and the prevention of emerging violent conflict. to promote the exercise of rights of the targeted IDPs in a monthly manner.
Adopting youth innovation programs that prepare and qualify a youth to have an active role in their communities, in order to inflict their knowledge onto their society
2-Gender analysis and initiatives
Through which BFD is aiming to address the connections of gender at each step of its programs and projects, from planning through to evaluation. In addition to BFD’s participation with many Yemeni CSOs in providing the context for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of development initiatives to promote gender equity and equality.
